EAA Chapter 283
About Our Chapter
Aviators, builders, and enthusiasts united by an unshakeable love of flight.
Who We Are
A Chapter Rooted in Community and Craftsmanship
EAA Chapter 283 was established to bring together aviation enthusiasts throughout northeastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding region. We are a chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), a global organization dedicated to growing participation in aviation through education, advocacy, and community.
Whether you're a certificated pilot, a student working toward your license, an aircraft builder, or simply someone who loves to watch airplanes — you have a home here. Our members range from seasoned aviators with decades of experience to curious newcomers taking their very first flight.

Young Eagles Program
EAA's Young Eagles program has given more than 2 million young people the gift of flight since 1992. Chapter 283 hosts Young Eagles events throughout the year, offering free introductory flights to youth ages 8–17.
These flights are conducted by EAA-member volunteer pilots in their own aircraft. Each Young Eagle receives a flight logbook entry and a personalized certificate signed by Harrison Ford, Honorary Chairman of the Young Eagles program.
Parents and guardians are welcome at every event. No prior aviation experience is required.
